I began my investment industry career in 1996 after nearly 20 successful years as a high school science teacher and swim coach. I truly enjoyed motivating both students and athletes to pursue more than they thought they could achieve through discipline and hard work. A few of my athletes achieved national-level success, and some my students keep in touch even after nearly 30 years!
I see a lot of overlap between my previous profession and my current one. A financial advisor should be able to motivate and coach an investor to formulate a plan to pursue their goals, short- and long-term. The challenges of the capital markets may be easier to navigate when you have a guiding light, and it is the intent of my practice to be that guiding light. The satisfaction of helping clients pursue the goal of a work-optional retirement, and working with their kids to get started on that journey, is what motivates me to try to bring as much to the table as possible. I love serving multiple generations in the same family.
I hold the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor™ designation from the College for Financial Planning and the Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor® designation from the National Association of Plan Advisors. I earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of New Orleans.
Outside the office, I enjoy spending time with my wife of 40 years, Lindy, who is a locally renowned artist, and our three adventurous sons, David, Michael, and Cody. Our sons have lived all over the world – as far north as Alaska and as far south as South Africa. Our livestock herd includes three dogs and a feral cat, who keeps the rat and snake population to a minimum. Faith is a very important part of my life, and I am proud to serve in my church.
I have been in the financial services industry for more than 35 years – nearly two years as a bank associate and 33 years as a client associate with Merrill Lynch, 12 of which were served as a Resident Director’s Assistant. I joined Paul in 2002, and we have thoroughly enjoyed developing the service philosophy of our practice. It has been very satisfying developing the concept of a financial family, then living it out. In 2021, I joined Paul upon the opening of the first Stifel office in Southern New Mexico. Our clients are a very important part of my life.
Family has always been my number one priority. My late husband, David, and I have five adult children, Shawn, Shanann, Felicia, April, and Emily. From them, I have 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Needless to say, family gatherings are somewhat chaotic and wonderful. Along with family celebrations, I enjoy hiking and watching the grandkids have way too much fun.
